Hi everyone! Sorry for the extreme lulls in updates on this journal. It's been one of the hardest weeks of my life this past week. A very close family friend who has lived accross the street from us since I was 4 was killed last Tuesday on a bike ride for charity in western Indiana. I've never felt so sad or angry in my life. This is honeslty one of the hardest things I've gone through in 17 years of life. He was one of the nicest, most caring people I had ever had the privelage to know. Although we weren't related, he invested a lot of his interest in my education like always asking how my grades were and asking about what colleges I wanted to go to and just how everything in my life was. I truly loved him like an uncle or brother or something. We were that close. It's been really hard.

Running has really helped me through a lot of this. Last night I ran a couple miles. I cried for an entire half mile of my run just letting out emotion while wearing myself out. It really helped a lot. Right now I feel so broken inside. I miss Gary (the guy who was killed) so much and I used to walk with him at least once a week and I miss him so much. Running was a release along with a kind of tribute to him because I always ended up walking with him when I would see him on a run. I think running really saved me this week. I've pushed my running further than ever this past week and even ran 3 full miles on Sunday night. It's helped me deal with a lot of emotions and get away from everything even if only for an hour or so.

Thanks for sticking with me on this journal. Hopefully I'll start updating more when 5K time draws near in mid-September. I'm very excited!

Hey everyone! Sorry for the random hiatus I took from this journal. This was the first week of my senior year and the workload has not exactly been light. Before today, I hadn't been running since Sunday and I felt like a bum even though I did go on a retreat where we did do a lot of strenuous activity so it wasn't a total loss of 4 days. Senior year is pretty cool and I've found 2 freshmen who are super awesome and who want to run with me this winter. YAY!! I have running buddies now! So when my dad's not home, I'm deff. going to be running with them.

So yeah I was talking to these 2 girls tonight at a football game, Alli and Molly, and they said they would love to run a 5K with me in September and maybe the mini marathon here in Indy in May. That would be fantastic! We're going to try to finish the mini or do a walk-run sort of thing. Either way, I'm glad I have 2 new running buddies who are just as serious about running as I am. I'm excited!

Today was not such a great day in the running world for me. Seeing as I haven't run for 4 days, my body just wasn't on par. So I did 1 1/2 miles and then walked 1 1/2 miles for a grand total of 3 miles. I would have preferred to run it all but tomorrow, I might be able to. We'll see how things go. I'm trying not to push too hard because I don't want to hurt myself and be out for awhile. That would suck!

Hope you all are having good experiences running lately. hahaha!

I've been contemplating getting up and running before work. I'm kind of wary of the fact that I am absolutely not a morning person and that I might not be able to go as far if I'm super tired. But many say that they run before work or school. I start my senior year of high school on Monday and I'm considering waking up at 5 am and running. We'll have to see. If not, I'm deffinitely going to run everyday after school with my dad.

Last night, I went to dinner with my parents and a couple of their close friends. One of their friends is a marathon runner and he runs I think 9 miles a day. He entered to run the New York Marathon and was selected as a runner. He's kind of freaking out but he did run the Chicago marathon last year so I think he's pretty prepared. Anyways, my dad and I could possibly be going to New York to be part of his support team. THAT WOULD BE AMAZING!! It would also be great motivation to see people with such endurance and motivation themselves. I'm very excited about it and I hope that I'm able to go!

Today when I go running with my dad, I'm pushing 3 miles. At least 2 3/4 would be good I think. But 3 miles would be that much more awesome. I have so much motivation right now. I really just need to keep pushing myself and putting that motivation into action!

First entry...

I figured I'd better make this journal while I was on top of my running. Today was pretty monumental with me running 2 miles straight. Considering I was pretty much dying after 15 feet when I started a month ago, this feels amazing. Dieting, however, hasn't been the easiest thing these last few days. I'm having serious issues with craving. Not good at all. hahaha. All I want are the worst things for me but I try to keep the craving down by drinking green tea and eating granola which is really healthy. My dad also got me hooked on frozen grapes. I LOVE THEM! But yeah I've definitely had to stay out of the kitchen. LOL!

So these entries might get longer as I progress and have up and down days. We'll see but for not, I'm just chugging along. It feels great to finally be on some sort of track with this weight loss/running thing. I'm loving it!
